BSC-TEC – Independent Security Research Lab

BSC-TEC is a privately operated security research lab with a focus on offensive security and vulnerability analysis. The lab is run part-time and is primarily used for internal research, testing and long-term skill development in the field of information security.

This domain is used mainly for lab infrastructure, internal resources and controlled access. There is no public service offering and no freely accessible content.

Vulnerability & Threat Intelligence

BSC-TEC focuses on understanding how vulnerabilities arise, how they can be reproduced in a reliable way and how they translate into realistic attack paths. The work does not stop at “there is a bug”: weaknesses are mapped to concrete exploitation potential, required preconditions and likely attacker capabilities.

All analysis takes place in controlled lab environments, using isolated systems, purpose-built test setups and authorized targets only. Vulnerabilities are reproduced, instrumented and followed through their technical lifecycle: discovery, validation, impact assessment and simulated exploitation – always without touching production systems.

Beyond individual issues, BSC-TEC invests heavily in threat modelling and attacker perspective. Instead of looking at a single weakness in isolation, the lab examines how multiple weak points can be chained, how real adversaries might move through an environment and which defensive assumptions fail under pressure.

The goal is not to provide public services, but to generate high-quality technical insight: turning raw vulnerability data into structured risk pictures and understanding how different defensive measures hold up against adversary-style behaviour.

Malware Research & Analysis

A dedicated part of BSC-TEC is used for malware research. This includes working with samples such as classic file infectors, network worms and modern ransomware families in strictly isolated lab environments.

The focus is on behaviour rather than on “having malware”: understanding execution flow, persistence mechanisms, propagation logic, command-and-control patterns and the concrete impact on different system configurations. Analysis combines static and dynamic approaches to answer practical questions: what does this sample actually do, how does it move, and which controls are effective at stopping or containing it?

Malware is never used operationally. Samples are obtained, handled and analysed solely for research purposes and remain confined to the lab. The resulting knowledge feeds back into threat models, detection ideas and hardening strategies, but the artefacts themselves do not leave the controlled environment.

BSC-TEC treats malware analysis as a form of technical risk research, not as a tool. The objective is to understand and reduce real-world risk, not to create it.

Final Note / Members-Only Notice

BSC-TEC operates as a private research lab, not as a commercial provider. There are no on-demand penetration tests, no public consulting services and no unsolicited testing of third-party systems.

Access to internal systems and resources is strictly limited and by design members only.
